"You never know when or where," says Memphis rapper Key Glock during a recent visit to MASS APPEAL HQ. "So you gotta be ready." After making a name for himself as a rapper, Glizzock eventually signed with his cousin Young Dolph's Paper Route Empire. "Before you get to your prime and your best peak, you gonna go through hell four, five time," he says. "The hardest thing I had to overcome in high school, being so wild, was losing homies back to back from gang violence." Glock's mother was incarcerated since he was one year old, so he was raised by his aunt and grandmother—until his mother was released many years later. "The best is making my mama smile," he says. "It's really all I care about." Check out the latest episode of Open Space right now.
